J. For. Sci., 2016, 62(9):389-398 | DOI: 10.17221/30/2016-JFS
The objective of the article is to evaluate the results of a questionnaire survey carried out in forest districts of the Training Forest Enterprise Masaryk Forest Křtiny (TFE Křtiny) within research focused on economic evaluation of the recreational potential of the TFE Křtiny. The article is aimed at surveying the willingness of visitors to the area to pay for the use of the recreational function of forests and evaluation of the used method. The evaluated part of the questionnaire survey was based on the contingent valuation method examining the willingness of respondents to pay for recreational function. It was found by the results of the questionnaire...

J. For. Sci., 2016, 62(9):399-406 | DOI: 10.17221/12/2016-JFS
Considering the importance of recreation and excursions in household's basket of expenditures on the one hand, and not paying attention to the economic value of recreational function for natural resources and environment as non-market goods on the other hand, this paper was written with the aim of estimating the recreational value of Shahid Zare Sari Forest Park when using the individual travel cost method. Requested data sets were obtained by completing questionnaires from 302 individuals who visited the above-mentioned park in 2012-2013. In the individual travel cost method, for the investigation of distributional effects of variables on the number...

J. For. Sci., 2016, 62(9):407-412 | DOI: 10.17221/8/2016-JFS
The relation between wood export and import of Iran and a number of major macroeconomic variables, such as oil price, gross domestic production, population, exchange rate, unemployment rate, inflation and domestic wood production during 1980-2014 were described. Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis were used for data analysis. The results showed that there is a significant relation at a significance level of 5% between wood export as a dependent variable and oil price, GDP, population, exchange rate and domestic wood production as independent variables. Meanwhile, there is also a significant relation between wood import...

J. For. Sci., 2016, 62(9):413-421 | DOI: 10.17221/51/2016-JFS
In this study, 39 generalized height-diameter prediction models were developed for Oriental beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) in the Hyrcanian forest in Iran. Data were collected from 75 permanent sample plots in uneven-aged stands of F. orientalis. A total of 1,067 individual tree height-diameter measurements were available for this study. For model testing a 10-fold cross validation method was used. The goodness of fit of the models was evaluated using six statistical measures including Akaike information criteria, Bayesian information criterion, root mean square error (RMSE), mean error, R2 and R2adj....

J. For. Sci., 2016, 62(9):422-428 | DOI: 10.17221/91/2016-JFS
To evaluate the lead tolerance of Populus euramericana (Dode) Guinier 561/41 and Populus nigra Linnaeus 63/135 clones in relation to photosynthetic efficiency, we measured physiological parameters of the two poplar clones exposed to Pb treatments. The pot experiment was established in a roofed place in a completely randomized design, with 5 Pb treatments (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 g Pb.kg-1) per poplar clone. After 3 months, photosynthetic rate (A), transpiration rate (E), stomatal conductance, intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci), leaf water potential were measured and water...

J. For. Sci., 2016, 62(9):429-440 | DOI: 10.17221/59/2016-JFS
The paper aims to evaluate the applicability of International Accounting Standard (IAS) 41 to the valuation of a growing stock of stands and entering its value in the corporate accounting system in the Czech Republic. In this context, IAS 41 is analysed in detail with focus on the method of reporting of the forest value in the accounting. At the same time a questionnaire survey is conducted among the forestry sector experts on the topic of willingness to report the forest value in statements. Based on the findings, an alternative solution to the application of IAS 41 to the forest accounting treatment, which would be potentially applicable, is proposed...
